Like all working Americans, I yearn for the weekend. I adore being at home not thinking about the stresses of work, co workers/ bosses, the other trivial things and people who occupy space in my life but add no value to it… No shade. I digress:). Anyway, one of the things I love most about the weekend is attempting to sleep in. Even though this undertaking is often a major fail, especially with two little ones who have absolutely no regard for those sacred 48 hours that are Saturday and Sunday. This past weekend we went swimming and watched movies.
Often times I find myself the only one really enjoying the movies we watch together. My sons watch for a little while but then are distracted by the food and snacks their dad puts on the kitchen table or some other event happening in their twindome world. In any case I am usually the only one truly invested in the story and the characters. For example, on Saturday we watched Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, now I haven’t read the book. However, I have to say that it was a great movie from the details in the animation to the lessons conveyed in the plot. We also watched The Book of Life (twice, no I’m not ashamed). Another awesome movie about life, coming of age and re writing your wrongs.
I know the plots are a lot for my two year olds right now and they really just like dancing to the music. But I have to say I am very happy that the output of amazing and inspiring children’s entertainment isn’t completely dead.
Cheers to the weekend and all animation that might be life altering!
